Patti's Cake and the Science Center

So, I decided to finally sign up for a Wilton Cake decorating course at my local Michael's. My reason for wanting to do this is simple - just to be able to make a basic birthday cake for Allison on her birthdays. I don't want to go pro or anything, just to be able to make something "decent". If you have seen my previous attempts at even writing on a cake with icing, you will know what I mean here. Anyway, here is my first class project. But let me first list all the things that went wrong (Being a pessimisstic person, this is required!). 1. The icing I used to frost my cake was TOO THICK. 2. The icing I used to decorate my cake was TOO THIN! 3. My colors didn't turn out as well as I would have liked at all. My Michael's was out of so many colors, I had to use food coloring to try and create a color (the sad looking purple). and 4. I really don't have a lot of patience! So there you go....

Here is my cake's biggest fan. She could not wait for me to bring it home all decorated from "cake school". The next morning she got to have cake for breakfast! Hey, it's no worse than donuts for breakfast, right??

Saturday we went to the local science center with Allison. She LOVED it and cried when we had to leave. We decided to become annual card holders since both Allison AND Derek really love going.

Building a "Jitterbug" robot.
Creating a river

Derek and Allison's face on the pin wall. Obviously Derek's big melon is the one on the bottom!

Looking at the tornado. It really doesn't show up as well in the picture for some reason.

Allison with Smokey the Bear. She looks kind of scared, but I don't think she's scared of him since she hugged him a few seconds before. I think she's more afraid of sliding off the log! haha!
