If you look at the sign closely it describes the pictured gallows as the execution location of the first Auschwitz Commandant after his capture and trial. This location is less than 10 yards from the first crematorium (left of the picture).
What to say here...A view of the backside of the Crematorium ovens which disposed of up to 350 remains per day each. The ovens were rebuilt from the drawings and pieces left behind by the Germans - they attempted to destroy the all the evidence of their crimes.
